Emergency First Aid at Work – Blended Learning
What is blended learning?
Blended learning combines online study and classroom sessions. You’ll begin by completing 3 hours of online learning at your convenience, whether at home, in the office, or another safe space. After finishing the online module, you will attend a scheduled classroom session to cover the practical aspects, including CPR, AED, handling seizures, using the recovery position, and managing choking.
Who should attend?
This course is ideal for anyone needing essential emergency first aid knowledge. It is particularly suitable for individuals designated as first aiders in low-risk environments, such as small offices or organisations. Delegates must be at least 16 years of age to receive certification.
Course Aims and Objectives
The aim of this course is to equip delegates with the skills needed to deliver basic life-saving first aid in the workplace.
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
- Understand the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations
- Administer basic first aid
- Know what actions to take and what to avoid in an emergency
- Maintain and manage a first aid kit, understanding its contents
- Accurately record incidents in the first aid log book

- Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981
- Role of the First Aider
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED)
- Life-threatening bleeding
- Managing choking
- Shock
- Bleeding control
- Eye injuries
- Poisoning
- Burns and scalds
- Broken bones
- Heart attacks and strokes
- Diabetes management
- Seizures and epilepsy
- Asthma care
- First aid kit contents and use
- RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences) Regulations 2013
- Accident recording and reporting
Course Duration:
- 1 day (Classroom-based session following online learning)

Certification:
Delegates are assessed during the course through practical demonstrations and a written assessment. Upon successful completion, delegates will receive the Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work certificate. This certificate is valid for 3 years, after which delegates will need to resit the qualification to remain certified.
