Highfield Level 2 Awards for CCTV Operators working in the Private Security Industry RQF 


Description
The Level 2 Award in CCTV Operations (Public Space Surveillance) (QCF) is designed for learners seeking a qualification that will enable them to apply for a Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence to operate CCTV systems for public space surveillance. This programme equips learners with the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver a professional level of service as a CCTV operator, while meeting the licensing requirements within the SIA-regulated environment.


Aim
The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the fundamental knowledge and understanding required to deliver professional CCTV operations, while ensuring compliance with SIA licensing requirements.


Objectives

  • Develop the learner’s understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a CCTV operator and other CCTV staff members.
  • Equip the learner with the knowledge and skills to operate CCTV equipment and perform surveillance techniques effectively.
  • Enhance the learner’s understanding of health and safety procedures in the workplace, including emergency protocols.
  • Provide the learner with knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice, operational procedures, and guidelines for CCTV use in public space surveillance.
  • Enable the learner to implement effective communication methods in a control room environment.
  • Ensure the learner understands how CCTV footage may be used as evidence.


Duration
This qualification can be completed in four days.


Prerequisites
This course requires mandatory pre-course learning. This pre-course and joining instructions will be sent to you only upon confirmation of your booking and receipt of payment. 


Candidates who do not complete the required online modules will not be able to attend the course.


Who is this qualification for?
This qualification is designed for individuals wishing to apply for an SIA licence to work as a CCTV operator. It follows the relevant SIA specification for learning and qualifications.


How long will it take?
Learners are expected to complete approximately 31 hours of learning to achieve this qualification. The SIA requires a minimum of 22 contact hours (3 days) if self-study is incorporated. For further details on self-study, please consult Highfield’s qualification specification.
